In June, 2004, with 11 kitty cats in the house, we decided to adopt a doggie.  I had never had a dog before, so this was a first for me!  We found our Spyder at a local rescue farm, and it took about a microsecond to decide that this baby needed a good home with us.  He had been abused by his former owners and was very hesitant with strangers.  It took a while for him to adjust, especially to the cats whom he still chases but doesn't harm.  Two month later we adopted a second dog from a shelter near Roanoke Virginia.  His name is Wilson and he is the sweetest angel doggie imaginable!  He has no aggression in him whatsoever, and is actually afraid of almost everything, including the cats.  He was one day from being euthanized when rescued.
This is the photo of Spyder that was on the rescue site.  He is part Chihuahua and part Italian Greyhound.  He was 2 years old at the time and is now almost 6.  How time flies!!!
And this is Wilson.  His foster mom named him for the ball in the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks.  She thought he had a lost look, but when I saw this face, it was love at first sight!
Sypder is never happier when in the arms of his new Daddy!  The feeling is mutual.
This photo of Wilson was also on the rescue site.  He was about 3 years old and weighed 20 lbs.  He was, and is, very camera shy.
This was in December '07.  He weighs in at a little over 40 lbs and loves eating more than anything
(except possible chasing squirrels).
Unlike Wilson, Spyder likes to be photographed.  August, 2007
Spyder tentatively tests the snow, which he does not like at all, also unlike Wilson, who is part polar bear!  December, 2004
Wilson looks curiously, but cautiously, at the camera (the flash scares him, as do most things).
